How Must We Pray for America?

"Dear God: Enable every person around the really hard math test. I like you, God, and in Jesus name I pray."

This prayer was presented by Mallory, 8, but it represents a sense of helplessness for all that are math challenged.

Garrett, 10, reminds me of a handful of prayers I've provided in the course of and soon after the hurricane season of 2005, which was probably the most active Atlantic hurricane season in recorded history: "Please support Churches in Colorado Springs to not be torn up by floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and other issues. Please, Lord. Amen."

Would God answer a weather prayer? At the least one American common thought so. Another common named Joshua prayed that the sun would stand still. The Lord answered his prayer, and Joshua defeated the Amorites (Joshua 10:12-14).



Taylor, 9, remembers our troops when he prays: "I pray for American soldiers to fight bravely for our nation. They're going to win for justice, and if they die, we will remember their bravery. We will not forget just how much they loved us enough to guard us with all their hearts."

Mallory, 9, reminds us of our history together with the following prayer of thanks: "Dear God: Thank you for telling George Washington that he could win the war for us to possess freedom."
